Webflow Development
Prowrap was my very first ‘real’ client. I will always thank Jessen (owner) for giving me the chance to put my new (at that time) abilities to the task of re-designing and developing his website.
This project was prompted by Prowrap’s change in focus. At the beginning of his business, Jessen started with providing his services to the general public (b2c). As the business grew it developed into a b2b. He now services graphics companies and in turn, large corporations.
Prowrap’s website was not effective unless it was updated to reflect this growth and target the new desired clientele.
The content previously found on his website was sparse. In some instances the necessary information was there but ‘hidden’ in a way, due to poor hierarchy. In other places it lacked powerful content to captivate the viewer's interest.
The desired client, who we create the website to target, is a busy owner of a graphics company looking for a qualified installer. For this reason the website's main objective is to act as a portfolio. For this reason the content was kept short and succinct for efficient communication with busy business people.
The ‘About Section begins building trust as it layout Jessens experience and training in a succinct way. The logs found at the bottom of this section offer the viewer who skims a glimpse into the extensive experience Jessen offers.
‘A picture speaks a thousand words…’ This is a saying we have all heard. In the world of websites it is an important principle we designers need to make full use of. As Jessen explained to me, in the graphics installation industry quality is demonstrated through quantity. The more practice and experience an installer has the better they are. We chose to cater to these outlooks by creating a portfolio that showed Jessens vast experience with one glance. No having to toggle or click through images, instead a clean grid that is openly displayed while the viewer scrolls.
The heading in the section of the first page was revised to target the new audience and was featured prominently to provide the crucial information to the visitor without them having to look for it.
To provide visitors with a quick and easy action, a prominent button known as a CTA (Call to Action) was added. “Contact Us” was chosen to encourage this action, as well as, this likely being the single objective of many viewers.
Images on the prior website featured car wraps for the general public, this had to change. Instead, the chosen image is engaging and communicates quality, precision, and features Jessen’s process.
Before, the home page consisted of a single section, this structure is avoided by designers because it forces visitors to take action before they've been given reason to. This seemingly small structural problem would have lost the interest of many visitors.
The succinct nature of Prowrap’s content made a one page website ideal. It allows a reluctant viewer to scroll without making a ‘decision,’ (as in clicking a button) while also providing a viewer with defined intentions navigation to the specific sections.
In the industry of graphics installation, quantity indicates quality. As the saying goes, “Practice Makes Perfect.” This is why a grid of images was chosen. It enables the website to showcase a great number of project photos, letting the visitor take them in at a glance, or explore in detail.
There are many ways to build trust, a good website takes advantage of multiple.
Social proof is an essential piece of any website. In a world with fraud and broken promises, testimonials are an essential tool. Not many are needed however, for Prowrap, 3 of the best were chosen, the names of the prominent companies displayed to authenticate them. It is also best that they be displayed on google or another platform as well.
An accurate identity and character for a brand online is another important way to create trust. This is achieved through the styling found throughout the website. For Prowrap a yellow-orange was chosen as it is associated with catching attention of viewers and is known to communicate enthusiasm and energy. By combining this with the straight-forward feel of a simple black-and-white structure it creates a friendly but ‘let’s partner up and get things done’ attitude.
